Around the middle of August the weather pattens change and we get our first cold front. This triggers many things ; the Salmon start to Stage(accumulate and ripen sexually) at the outflows of Lake tributaries waiting for the right temp and water flow to run upstream and spawn.Most other fish start to school up and feed heavily in preparation for the cold,dormant season ahead .The larger predators take advantage of this grouping and also fatten up.
Wildlife also turns on thefeeding in response to the colder weather.As it is for the Salmon,Lake Trout,And Brookies so do the Deer enter into their reproductive cycle.
It is a time of harvest ,stockpiling,and fortifying for Humans.Fishing,Hunting,And Foraging(gathering) are important traditional parts of Human preparation for the Winter months ahead.It is also a time to reflect on the dynamic cycle of of life on this planet ,from warm abundance to cold scarcity, and the importance of planning ahead .
These factors endorse my belief that Fishing,Hunting,and Foraging(or Gardening) are spiritual rights of all living creatures and not sports created for entertainment and rehersal of these important life skills .
